Title: Financial Management Governance

Client: Pan-Canadian Not-for-Profit

Problem:  Our client is designed to assist its clients in the pursuit of industry excellence by providing valuable educational opportunities and make evidence-based products and research available to its members, to ensure their practice is at the forefront of modern research and development. As part of the organization’s exponential growth and innovation investments, the company was seeking to design, develop and implement its financial management structure to support the successful delivery of products and services, while ensuring sound financial management.

Solution: Nīewe Consulting (formerly Baiame) assessed the organization’s financial management needs to design and develop a financial management structure to support its strategic and operational objectives by identifying the needs for the CFO model, reviewing the benefits of an internal or outsourced CFO model and the governance structure required to ensure the CFO model functions within the broader context of the organization. This involved hosting interviews with key stakeholders, identifying options and developing recommendations for action, including the governance and reporting structures for financial requirements.

Impact: The project resulted in recommendations regarding the CFO model, the governance structure, a financial management framework, policy framework and key financial management policy instruments that support the organization’s strategic and operational objective.
